Matt has owned and operated his own law firm since 2002. Matt is a member of the Minnesota and Hennepin County Bar Associations, and practices primarily in the areas of real estate law, estate planning, business law, probate, and litigation.

In 2007, 2010 and 2014, Matt was named a “Rising Star” by his peers as being among the top up-and-coming lawyers under 40 years old in Minnesota. Rising Stars names the top lawyers in Minnesota who are 40 or younger or have been in practice for 10 years or less. Only 2.5 percent of Minnesota attorneys are identified by Rising Stars.

Matt has successfully argued two appellate cases, one to the Minnesota Court of Appeals (Nelson v. Nelson, 806 N.W. 2d 870, Minn.App. 2011) in a marital property case, and the other to the Federal 8th Circuit Court of Appeals (Gallagher v. Magner, 619 F.3rd 823, 2010) in a housing discrimination case.

Matt has also been a Continuing Legal Education Lecturer for the Hennepin County Bar Association on the topics of “Starting Your Own Law Firm,” “Going Paperless,” and “The Virtual Law Office.”
